What is holding you back from creating the life that you want?
What road blocks stand in your way? Is it something from your past that lingers in every interaction with those closest to you? Or the pain of a lost love, a feeling of self-doubt, rejection or fear of failure? Have you ever found yourself in a major transition or as an “in-betweener” uncertain of the journey ahead? Or maybe you’ve found yourself in an unfulfilling relationship, job or lifestyle.
Do you feel like there is a different life for you, but you don’t know what to do to get there?
If you relate with any of these, chances are, until now your life story was written for you. Determined by circumstances you had no control over. I’m here to tell you that this does not have to be the case! It’s time to become the author of your own story and I’ll tell you how…
By allowing yourself the space to understand who you are, where you come from and where you’ve been, you will—without a doubt—open up the opportunity to re-write your story from your perspective and no one else’s.
Choosing to devote weekly time to self-reflection and insight into your previous, current and future patterns in relationships, at work and with yourself will likely be a journey of mixed emotions, feelings and ultimately positive growth.
You see, we are all a product of our genetics, experiences and environment. Your parents, siblings, friends, extended family, co-workers and significant others have all contributed in shaping who you are today.
Gaining insight and understanding within the context of others and your world can help to shed light on recurrent patterns that may cause stress, frustration, anger and sadness.
These patterns interfere with our ability to really experience the love and connection we desire and are often to blame for failed relationships or a repetitive dynamic of choosing intimate partners that aren’t good for you. Taking the time to consider and explore where you have been will provide understanding and direction for where you are going, even if the destination is unknown.
My experience in my early 20′s seeing a therapist had a profound affect on my personal life, inner world and professional career. I may be biased but I believe it is one of the most valuable investments anyone will ever make for themselves and others around them.
Pursuing therapy is risky and vulnerable. It takes courage and strength to travel to the depths of your heart and mind, reflecting on painful memories, present experiences and future fears.
You’ll feel relieved by your renewed sense of control over your life and be able to finally imagine what life can be like. Remember – You are your best ally, your biggest supporter and most destructive doubter. By using your strengths to propel you into a life you dream of, you will ultimately be freed from the despair, loneliness, shame, doubt and disappointment.
As your therapist, my goal is to be a presence of grace, support and exploration, ultimately traveling alongside you through your personal journey of insight and understanding. I strongly believe that therapy is only as good as the relationship you have with your therapist. Without trust and confidence in the person you are choosing to share intimate details of your life, you might find yourself holding back and missing the desired rewards that vulnerability and authenticity can provide.
There is little more powerful in life than the power of knowing yourself fully and choosing to love yourself in everything you do, each and every day.
My challenge for you is to consider where you are in your life now and where you want to be. Consider how free you can feel and how much you deserve to let go of the chains of the past to be able to fully embrace who you are, who you are meant to be and who the world needs you to be.
There will never be another you and unfortunately we do not get a “re-do.”
This is your chance to start fresh and no longer let life happen to you. Jump in the driver seat and re-gain control of your life and your future.
